Vocational Service Vocational Service is the way Rotary fosters and supports the application of Service in pursuit of all vocations. Inherent in Vocational Service is adherence to, and promotion of, the highest ethical standards in all occupations. The contributions of one's vocational talents to the problems of society is the responsibility of both our club and our members.Employer of the Year Chair Based on nominations from members of the club, a committee will select a Windward Oahu "Employer of the Year". Selection will be based on the employer's service to the community. The recipient of the award will be recognized at a weekly club meeting during Rotary's Vocational theme month.Vocational Scholarships Chair Three vocational scholarships of $500 each will be awarded as follows: One scholarship will be awarded to a vocational student attending Windward Community College. (timing to be determined by Windward Community College). A second scholarship will be awarded to a member of the Woman's Community Correction Center (WCCC) who has served on the club's Kailua Beach clean up crew and who is seeking vocational training following her release from WCCC. A third scholarship is planned as a potential multi year scholarship for vocational training that may take more than one year to complete.Recognition of Fire Fighter and Police Department Member The club will recognize one outstanding member of the Fire Department and the Police Department. (annually)Recognition of Military Personnel Based on criteria established by Marine Corps Base Hawaii, one sailor and one marine, who are selected as service members of the quarter, will be recognized during a weekly meeting. Each service member will receive a $100 Savings Bond and a plaque/letter. (quarterly)Vocational Talks On the third week of each month a member of the club will present a vocational talk at the weekly meeting. (monthly).4-Way Test We will continue to promote the 4-Way Test at weekly meetings and in selecting an Employer of the Year and the Service Above Self award winner. In the criteria for our vocational scholarships we will ask applicants to write a brief explanation of what the 4-Way Test means to them. |
